Barefootin’ in the Tavern for children’s health
About 150 dancers and cheering supporters gathered in the Tavern at 9 p.m. last Friday night to dance the night away in support of the Children’s National Medical Center
(CNMC). The marathon raised funds in the name of four-year-old Joey Lora, pictured bottom center, who suffers from epilepsy. Joey will sponsor his second annual telethon on behalf of CNMC on May 31 and June 1, when he will be live
on the air on WUSA, Channel 9. When the music stopped at noon on Saturday, fifteen dancers were left standing, among them Aaron Killian, who had netted $160 in pledges, and Kate Roberts whose supporters pledged $158.
This first AU dance marathon, sponsored by the Student Confederation, was the brainchild of student Katherine Cummings. |
